SHILIN: Leiden University Journal of Young Sinology

The start of the academic year 2010-2011 sees the launch of the first issue of the new sinological journal Shilin . Shilin will be published bi-annually and feature abridged reports of the most interesting and stimulating research done by students of the Chinese Studies department of Leiden University. By publishing research from different fields, Shilin aims to encourage interdisciplinary dialogue in the student body and the sinological community at large.


Start Study

The master's information session for the MA in Chinese Studies will be on Thursday September 9, 11:00h to 12:00h. Classes will start on September 13.


Leiden Seminar on Global Interactions - Friday October 1st

On Friday October 1st prof.dr. Pál Nyiri (VU University, Amsterdam) will speak about his current work on Chinese migration and overseas Chinese in Europe and Southeast Asia. His lecture is titled: “Chinese entrepreneurs in poor countries: a transnational “middleman minority” and its futures”
