On Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 May, LUCIS, in cooporation with the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives in Riyadh, and the Museum Volkenkunde Leiden  organised an international symposium entitled: 'Europe and Hajj in the Age of Empires: Muslim Pilgrimage prior to the Influx of Migration'. Convenor: Dr Umar Ryad, Assistant Professor of the Study of Islam in the Modern World at Leiden University Institute for Religious Studies. Location: Museum Volkenkunde, Paviljoen Entrance: free.
